    How important is the double down-picked thing at the beginning? It feels so awkward, I’m wondering why you think this is crucial?

    Great lesson! Very melodic sounding I’m going to work on this at home 1st chance. Do you use the caged system at all to teach? Trying to find ways to visually connect these scales up & down the fretboard since I don’t really read music much. Thank you for these ideas 💡

    three thousand for an american made guitar isn't alot of money. Gibson has to pay prevailing wages for american labor and benefits packages. Don't you want to make a good lliving with benefits?

    bought a 2019 SG 18months ago brand new, & it is by far the best guitar I have bought, better than my Fenders etc. not sure why Fender don't get more hate when they are literally cheaply assembled guitars with no real skill to make that anyone wanting to make a part caster can do, yet people seem to take issue with Gibson?? compare the prices by ease of assembly between the two & I can't figure out why its the opposite away round.

    Dude! Didn't know you had a MiJ Charvel?! Do you still have it? I'm looking at buying one at the moment. Are they as good people say they are? Cheers!

    • @JordanSteele
      @JordanSteele 7 днів тому

      Oh dude! The MIJ Charvels are incredible! From experience I would say they’re on par with modern day Suhr guitars. I definitely recommend getting one if you can get your hands on one. Mine currently needs a refret and a crack in the headstock fixed. But it’s an incredible guitar🤘

    • @RiffLair
      @RiffLair 7 днів тому

      Oh man. That's a bold statement! Steel frets on the one I found + Bare knuckle Holydiver/Crawler pups for €1500. Worth it you think? A MiM is bout €950 nowdays. Thanks by the way!

    • @JordanSteele
      @JordanSteele 7 днів тому

      @RiffLair That sounds like a great guitar. Definitely worth it. The MiM ones are not too impressive in my experience especially compared to the MiJ

    I agree and disagree. It’s really not rocket surgery, staying in tune is all about the nut. Fix that and it’ll stay in tune as well as it is possible. So that’s bollocks and really weak argument. But i did own one traditional (=standard as we know it). Lacquer was peeling off. Basically that junk of wood had plastic coating on it with no adhesion to the substrate. Dont get me wrong. I love how my old fenders and gibsons look because of 40-60yrs of playing. That gibson just looked like new guitar with lacquer peeling off, not the same thing. As long as the slimey weasel is running the company and Mark acnezi in on their payroll, i will keep it authentic and play only old gibsons.

    Any tips on keeping your fingers close to the fretboard? With pentatonics mine lift too far off , causing tension.

    • @JordanSteele
      @JordanSteele 9 днів тому

      That’s a tough one especially without seeing your playing first hand. If you’re already an advanced player simple things like holding your hand in front of your fretting hand limiting motion or placing an object in front of your playing hand limiting motion like a wall or table or something. Possibly just being very observant and limiting motion and doing things slow with small motions will work. Honestly weird things like making sure you’re breathing properly while playing helps, always tapping your foot to the rhythm. Distracting yourself slightly with TV or a conversation or something. It’s a complicated issue but you being aware of it is a super valuable and important first step. Just stick with it, try new things and eventually over the months or years you’ll play with no tension and small relaxed motions. I hope this helps!
